Course overview

Advance your first aid knowledge or update your current certification with this course. This course will add value to your existing certification/s, giving you the skills to confidently provide assistance in a medical emergency in the workplace or in the community.

This course offers you the skills to recognise an emergency situation, perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation in line with current ARC guidelines, provide first aid, operate first aid equipment, and accurately convey incident details to emergency service personnel. Our industry-embedded teachers offer one-on-one guidance to help you succeed in your studies no matter what flexible study option you choose.

Successful completion of this course will give you the confidence to respond in emergency situations while at work or in the community.

Entry requirements

Selection criteria

It is highly recommended that you are aged 15 years by the course commencement date.

Please note: you must be physically capable of completing the specific assessment requirements.

To successfully meet assessment requirements you are required to demonstrate two minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on an adult manikin on the floor, as well as two minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer (CPR) on an infant manikin on a hard surface.

You will receive a triangular and a roller bandage and a first aid text book.

Resources required

It is recommended that you have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Reader. This equipment and software is available for use at all TAFE Queensland locations.
