Course overview

Progress your career by gaining your interim gas work licence through this course. By completing this qualification as part of your apprenticeship, you can become a qualified gas fitter.

According to the Australian Government's Job Outlook service, plumbers (including gasfitters) are a skill in demand with employers finding it hard to fill vacancies. The industry grew strongly over the past five years and is expected to continue to expand with around 29,000 job openings anticipated over the next five years.

In this course you will develop practical skills in gas detection and LP storage and gas installations. With a strong focus on ensuring safe operating conditions, you’ll learn how to size, install, test and purge gas pipe work; install, test and commission gas appliances; and size, install and test flue system components. You will develop skills in record-keeping and attending to notices in accordance with relevant acts, standards and regulations. Our industry-expert teachers will work with you to ensure you are working to the high standards expected in the industry.

On graduating you will be eligible to apply for a Queensland Provisional Gas Fitting Licence. You will be able to work under the general supervision of a fully licenced gas fitter and undertake further study to earn your full licence.
